About Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is a small landlocked country about the size of Colorado in West Africa,
just north of Ghana and Ivory Coast. As a former French colony, the national language is French,
although many speak local dialects like Mooré. When translated, Burkina Faso means “The Land
of the Upright People” and Burkinabe are known for their integrity. Burkinabe are often soft
spoken and very respectful people. Ouagadougou is the capital city. We focus our programs on
rural areas where the need is greatest.
